Posh upper middle class
Character Profile
Despite having family in Australia, Poppy was unable to secure an Australian residency permit on arrival. If she chooses to stay in Australia, she will have to undergo the standard 88 days of regional work.
“It’s not something I thought I would have to do. It’s caught me a little by surprise, to be honest. I’m not averse to a bit of hard work, and I respect the immigration process. Let’s get at it.”
Like many of the UK’s affluent, Poppy attended boarding school and feels the experience has equipped her with skills to handle the gruelling Australian farm work.
“I believe there are a lot of misconceptions about boarding school. Firstly, that it’s easy and also that it makes you soft. It can be terribly difficult living with a group of strangers and being away from home for most of the year. Yet, you learn to adjust, and you’re all the stronger for it.”
